BKC Class Schedule

Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) classes will help you and your dog acquire the skills of a well-mannered working team, such as:

  • walking under control
  • coming when called
  • staying in place
  • downing
  • standing on command

Our instructors will also help owners prepare participant dogs for:

  • calm acceptance of friendly strangers and groomers
  • sitting politely for petting
  • meeting with other dogs
  • ignoring distractions and household temptations
  • deferring to owners at doors and stairs
  • undergoing supervised separation
  • other essential canine behaviors

Positive reinforcement and attention training techniques are used. Dogs may be of any age over six months. A non-obligatory AKC Canine Good Citizenship test is offered without charge at the end of the course. A CGC certificate is sometime accepted as qualification for therapy dog work.

Handler/dog teams who complete this CGC course and wish to continue to more advanced levels of training can continue on in our fun obedience and rally obedience, Agility, or Calm Dogs/Therapy Dogs classes.
